Chef-K trains instructors use our proven process to teach culinary education.  The Train-the-Trainer Summer camp course will prepare instructors for running 3-hour camps over 5 days.

Train-the-Trainer Summer Camp

General concepts and methodology are covered in webinar format (either live or view recorded at your convenience) combined with two days of hands-on training. The safety and health of participants of Chef-K programs is of utmost importance and so we share best practices and what we have learned over the years teaching children and teens to cook.

During the two hands-on days a different sample class will be given that will include lunch. Instructor-students will have an opportunity to practice leading the class.

Webinar 1 – 2 hours
Instructor-participants will review basic lesson techniques such as Kitchen Safety, methods for grouping students, knife safety, and etiquette.

Webinar 2 – 2 hours
Instructor-participants will review basic information on age variations, celebration themes, ideas on working with an assistant, and food allergies.

Webinar 3 – 2 hours
Instructor-participants will review case studies - real life calamities, kitchen and table etiquette. We’ll also review methods to keep students occupied while waiting in between cooking activities.

Webinar 4 – 2 hour
Instructor-participants will review lesson; “Sum of the Parts equals a Meal” and over view of history and cultural concepts included in the various classes.

Day 1 – 4 hours
Instructor-participants will be organized into teams to practice lessons during the remainder of the two days. (Teams and lesson will be assigned prior to Day 1.) This class will allow practice preparing of a sample day’s lesson and menu.

Day 2 – 4 hours
Instructor-participants will practice a second sample day’s lesson and menu as well as complete testing & certification.
